HISTORY

From the start

The Spanish Federation of Research and Technology Bodies (Fedit) was created in March 1996 as a result of the merger of the former Spanish Federation of Associations of Industrial Research (FEDIN) and the Spanish Federation of Research and Technology Organizations (FEIT).

On 20 December 1996 Royal Decree 2609/1996 defined the concept of centre for research and technology (CIT), regulated its status under law and created an official register for these institutions.


• 1996:Foundation of Fedit.

• 1999:Fedit is entered in the register of Offices for the Transfer of Research Results (OTRI).

• 2001:Income of the Fedit Technology Centers is over 250 million euros.

• 2003:The number of Fedit client companies numbers over 30,000.

• 2004:Fedit signs the articles of association and forms part of the constitutive body of INSME, the International Network for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises.

• 2005:The Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade requires Fedit to participate in the industrial observatories.

• 2006:More than 150 technologists participate in the I National Conference of Technology Centers.

• 2007:The Spanish Senate approves a motion supporting Technology Centers.
